Are you tired of using a generic email address that doesn’t reflect your brand or business? Do you want to create a professional email address using your custom domain but don’t want to pay for expensive email hosting services? Well, you’re in luck! In this tutorial, I will show you how to send and receive emails using a custom Namecheap domain for free, all while using Gmail as your email client.
Having a custom email address that matches your domain name not only looks more professional but also helps build trust with your customers and clients. With Namecheap, one of the leading domain registrars, you can easily set up email forwarding for your custom domain without having to pay for additional email hosting services.
So, let’s get started on setting up your custom email address with Namecheap and Gmail:
Step 1: Purchase a Domain Name from Namecheap
If you haven’t already purchased a domain name from Namecheap, head over to their website and search for the domain name you want. Once you find an available domain name that suits your needs, go ahead and purchase it.
Step 2: Set up Email Forwarding with Namecheap
After purchasing your domain name, log in to your Namecheap account and navigate to the ‘Domain List’ section. Find the domain you want to set up email forwarding for and click on the ‘Manage’ button next to it.
In the domain management dashboard, look for the ‘Advanced DNS’ tab and click on it. Here, you will need to add a new MX (Mail Exchange) record to set up email forwarding. Click on the ‘Add New Record’ button and select ‘MX Record’ from the drop-down menu.
For the ‘Host’ field, enter ‘@’ or your domain name without the ‘www’ prefix. In the ‘Mail server’ field, enter ‘mx1.privateemail.com’ and set the ‘Priority’ to ’10’. Click on the green checkmark to save the MX record.
Next, you will need to add a TXT record for SPF (Sender Policy Framework) to help prevent your emails from being marked as spam. Click on ‘Add New Record’ again, select ‘TXT Record’ from the drop-down menu, and enter the following SPF record:
Host: @
Value: v=spf1 include:spf.privateemail.com ~all
Save the TXT record by clicking on the green checkmark.
